The State of State EV Infrastructure Deployments

State practitioners will share successes and lessons learned from the last year of NEVI (including solicitations, contracting, commissioning, O&M, reporting, achieving "fully built out" certification, state-federal collaboration, etc.) and contextualize how NEVI fits within their broader EV charging plans and investments (including VW trust, CPRG funds, CFI awards, etc.).

Thinking Outside the NEVI Box: Additional Federal Support for EVs and Charging

In this fast-paced session, federal partners will highlight additional funding opportunities - beyond NEVI - to support development of a robust national EV charging network.

National EV Infrastructure - State:Federal Q&A

States will hear from federal agencies like the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (JOET), who will provide a national update on NEVI and respond to challenges identified by the preceding state panel, including questions about Title 23 compliance, Build America, Buy America, navigating the transformer backlog, and existing stations. States will also have the ability to have their outstanding questions answered live by FHWA and JOET staff via a robust Q&A period.

Regional Breakouts

Each of six regions – West, Upper Central, Lower Central, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast - will meet in working sessions to discuss progress, successes, challenges, next steps, etc. Topics will vary by region but may include: utility engagement, procurement/contracting, reporting, workforce development, community engagement, etc.

Topical Working Group Meetings - Breakout 1

Two of the four working groups (EVs and Grid Integration, Cybersecurity of EV Charging, Equity, and Data and Reporting) will have the opportunity to convene in person for a brief educational presentation, followed by an opportunity to socialize their draft recommendations with private sector and NGO stakeholders, as well as additional state attendees, and to discuss next steps.

Community EV Charging

While much of the work thus far on EV charging development has been focused on fast charging stations along key corridors, additional charging solutions - including Level 2 charging - will be needed to ensure convenient, accessible, and equitable transportation infrastructure. This may include charging at workplaces, multifamily housing, and popular destinations. This session will cover best practices for community charging, including outreach and engagement, when and how NEVI funds can be used, and what additional funding is available.

Closing Remarks and Next Steps

Identify action items that states, NASEO, AASHTO, and the Joint Office will advance following the conference
